Directions on how to get to beautiful Scott Valley.

FROM YREKA

You take State Hwy 3 southwest, from Yreka to get to Scott Valley.   Fort Jones and Etna are marked on I-5 when you exit to Hwy 3 at the south part of Yreka.  This is the main access into Scott Valley.  Your first breathtaking view of Scott Valley will be from the Forrest Mountain summit,  The summit elevation is 4,097 feet.  Hwy 3 is a scenic, two lane highway and is well maintained.  Fort Jones,  the first community you will visit, is approximately 18 miles from Yreka.  Greenview is five miles from Fort Jones and Etna is seven miles further south.

FROM WEAVERVILLE

Travel on Hwy 3 over Scott Mountain into Callahan.  This is approximately 60 miles.  This is a good road, but snow is not removed weekend during winter, so it may be impassible at times.  This route follows the California-Oregon route that early settlers traveled is one of the most historic, interesting byways in California.  It enters Scott Valley at Callahan.  The old Oregon Trail continues north down the east side of Scott Valley, an alternative route to Hwy 3 through the valley.

FROM WEED

It is possible to take a scenic route into the south part of the valley.  Exit I-5 at the Edgewood-Gazelle exit.  Take old Hwy 99 north into Gazelle.  In the town of Gazelle turn left onto the Gazelle-Callahan road.  This road is blacktop all the way.  This route is winding and steep and should not  be attempted by those who do not enjoy mountain travel.  Those who take it will be rewarded with great scenery and possible wildlife viewing.  It is approximately 30 miles to Callahan and Scott Valley.  This road runs through Plowman's Valley and across historic Parker Ranch.

FROM THE KLAMATH RIVER HIGHWAY, HWY 96

Scott Valley is reached by the Scott River Road which is a narrow winding road.  It is approximately 36 miles from where the Scott River Road joins Hwy 96 to the town of Fort Jones.
